Här kan du läsa om de olika folkdanserna som kommer att läras ut.

GHOOMAR
This is a traditional women's folk dance from Rajasthan. It is performed by groups of women in swirling robes, and accompanied by men and women singing together.
This folk dance gets its name from 'ghoomna', the pirouetting which displays the spectacular colors of the flowing 'ghaghara', the long skirt of the Rajasthani women. There is an amazing grace as the skirt flair slowly while the women folk twirl in circles, their faces covered with the help of the veil. Their measured steps and various graceful inclinations of body, beating palms or snapping fingers at particular cadences while singing some lilting songs.

TIPPANI
Is originated from the chorwad region of Gujarat
In this dance, women take a wooden rod to beat the floor, The rod has iron/wood piece at one end, to make it stronger in opposite rows. The Tippani is traditional the stick used to grind red chillies to powder. While doing this work the women sing and dance to entertain themselves, and that is where the dance form gets its name.

DANDIYA RAAS
There are several forms of Raas, but "Dandiya Raas", performed during Navratri in Gujarat is the most popular form. It celebrates the masculine energy. In Dandiya Raas men and women dance in two circles, with sticks in their hands. This dance isalso nicknamed 'The Sword Dance'. The sticks of the dance represent the sword of Goddess Durga. The origin of these dances can be traced back to the life of Lord Krishna
The participants will be taught basic steps along with the movements of the hands using the sticks. The dance choreography would evolve out of group movement process.

GARBA
Garba is an Indian folk dance from the western region of the country. it is one of the most popular women folk forms which celebrates the feminine enegy. The circular and spiral figures of Garba have similarities to other spiritual dances. Traditionally it is performed during the nine-day Hindu Festival of Navaratri (Nava : 9, rātrī : nights).
People dance around the center, bending sideways at every step, their arms making sweeping gestures, up and down, left and right ,each movement ending in a clap. The participation is without any barriers of caste or social positions. The songs of the Garba are often history and melodious and have been handed down through generations.
Workshop includes -
Basic steps along with the movements of the hands
The inspirations behind the movements and their relation to daily life. A brief introduction about the rhythms used in Garba.
The dance choreography would evolve out of group movement process.
